Again, “ironic” bigotry:
- Isn’t funny, edgy, or creative
- Normalizes actual bigotry
- Makes actual bigots feel at home/accepted
- Makes members of minority groups feel unwelcome
- Reminds members of minority groups that there are people in the world who unironically think they are subhuman because they’re gay/nonwhite/trans/a woman/etc.
I just don’t understand why, knowing all that, you would come out in favour of any position besides “hey let’s try to not engage in that behaviour.”
